Vader was formed around 1983 when the heavy metal movement started to decay, succeeded by more extreme sounds like thrash – though they started off as just a heavy/speed metal act. They started achieving popularity in the Polish metal scene after the first Metalmania edition show in 1986. After numerous line-up and music direction changes, by 1987 they eventually embraced a pure death metal sound with reminiscence of thrash – marking the beginning of an era of splendor for underground metal in their home country.

  • Godless - Infest | Artwork done by Pranati Khanna

    Godless release debut single ‘Infest’

    May 28 • News • 2912 Views

This is the age of pushing the envelope and giving the listeners something they will remember , something new and this is exactly what the people from Hyderabad new boys Godless have done with their debut single ‘Infest‘. This track features ex Dread Response vocalist Sean O’Kane Connolly in a special single.

They band is especially excited about this collaboration and they feel “He’s an incredible vocalist and since I (Abbas) was in New Zealand during the recording I got to sit in on the vocal recording session where it was amazing to see Sean at work.”

The members of Godless however are not new scene as they feature the folks from bands like Skrypt and Shock Therapy. Getting a new band up and running requires real hard work and the band had all barrels down the hatches as they worked for a good few months to get this project up and running “This project was in the pipeline for about 3-4 months. We were initially looking for the right musicians and then got together and started working on writing some music. We spent the first few rehearsals trying to find our sound and then began composing the music. We did have a very different sound in mind so this project sounds nothing like our other bands. We just want to create some dark and evil sounding metal with a thrashy edge

The members of the band point out to us that the band is really looking to go places and find a vocalist to make permanent and move ahead with releasing an EP however release dates for EP have not been decided ‘As of now we’re only looking to continue writing music and will keep looking for the vocalist. We’re aiming at putting down around 4 songs for the EP. We’ve got some material ready so it hopefully should take us too long to put together the best 4 songs we can come up with for the EP. If we have trouble finding the right vocalist by the time we finish writing the music we’ll just hit up Sean once again and ask hopefully he’d still be keen to track the rest of the songs for us

The sound that this band is creating is be raw, angry and brutal .The lyrics of the track has been written by O’Kane Connolly and revolves around overpopulation and the adverse effect of mankind on earth.

  • Lucid Recess releases music video for their song ‘Wireless Junkies’

May 27 • All Updates, Indian News, Releases • 2838 Views

Lucid Recess releases the video for their song ‘Wireless Junkies’ from their upcoming album. The video was entirely done in one long shot. The video is directed by Lucid Recess with Kamki Diengdoh as the director of photography.

We released the song ‘Wireless Junkies’ in 2011 as the first single for our third album. We were planning to have the third album out by the following year but for some reason, it got much delayed. We are finally ready with the new album but the significance of this song, for us, is not lost. This song was a turning point for our band and we wanted to make it larger with an amazing music video. We’ve had this idea and wanted to do it for the longest time and with the help of Kamki Diengdoh and his team, who made the video of ‘Time Walk’, we were finally able to make it happen. The entire video was done in one long shot. It proved very difficult to pull this off but the hard work of everyone involved, the three band members and nine crew members, made it possible. We prepared, rehearsed, set everything up and shot the video in a single day. It took almost 18 hours in total and when we got the final perfect take at 2 AM in the morning, we never felt more satisfied. We hope you enjoy the video.’ said the band

Lucid Recess is an Alternative Metal/Progressive Rock band from Guwahati, Assam, India comprising of Amitabh Barooa on Vocals and Bass, Siddharth Barooa on Guitars and Partha Boro on Drums. Their untitled 3rd album will be released this summer.

    REVIEW: Fear From The Skies

May 21 • All Updates, Indian News, Reviews • 3053 Views

While hearing this album I was reminded of one thing, the high pitched vocals that were the trademark of the early NWOBHM era. Biposhree Das has  belted out the tracks in the dark and heavy Albatross album that is Fear from the Skies released on Transcending Obscurity India.

Fear of the Skies is the bands latest effort after ‘Dinner Is You‘ (2010) and ‘The Kissing Flies‘ (2012). The album cover two stories in its 8 tracks, heavy guitar riffs and amazingly melodic guitar solos in some ways sums up this album. You are set to get a dose of old school heavy metal with a lot of high pitched but clean singing.

    Fear From The Skies

    Fear From The Skies

The two stories in the album are Children of the Cloud and The Assassins Flight with the earlier being the longer of two and in my opinion more rounded than the later. Nishith Hegde , Varun Singh and Vigneshkumar Venkatraman have really outdone themselves in this album with the brilliant guitar solos forming the bridge of several songs in the album. The track Children of the Cloud stands out as the centerpiece of the album which is definitely not for the faint hearted.

Seeing the band play out this remarkable record  live is something not to be missed. Don’t forget to watch Albatross live at Pandemonium (Delhi) and Strength Of Steel (Kolkata).

    Track list –

Story 1: Children of the Cloud

    1. Intro – Advance
    2. The Raptorsville Fair
    3. Jugglehead the Clown
    4. Children of the Cloud
    5. Outro – Fold

    Story 2: The Assassin’s Flight

    1. In the Lair of Dr.Hex
    2. A Tale of Two Tyrants
    3. The Empire of Albatross

Pick up this album and have a go !

    Rating: 9/10
