  • Your weekly groove metal dose with As Blood Spatters

Nov 13 • Indian News, Interviews, News, Releases • 4848 Views

Formed in 2013 ‘As blood splatters’ is a 4 member project from jorhat, Assam, India, bringing back the groove metal of the early 20’s, the band released their debut EP vigilante on August, we had a chat with the members regarding their music and the EP.

Hello folks hope you guys are having a great time checked out your band and was wondering how would you describe the sound of As Blood Splatters? Is there a particular sub-genre which is focused on?

ABS: we are doing fine, well’ We’ve always loved groove metal (thanks to pantera) and there were other bands like machine head, devildriver, chimaira. But it was Lamb of God that changed everything. I’m sure by now you’ve figured out our genre .People have called us a tribute band but I’m sure that’ll change with time

Yes indeed I loved the sound of your band and I am pretty sure our readers will love them too, well, who are the band’s main influences and how does it inspire the band’s own sound?

ABS: We’ve always loved Lamb of God, Chimaira, killswitch engage machine head, soilwork, pantera but l.o.g was the real game changer. It changed our lives forever.

So L.O.G all the way, that’s pretty neat,I mean who doesn’t love em right! So As Blood Splatters have released their new EP, Vigilante Justice. Tell us about the journey.

The journey has been tough so far, the metal scene in jorhat is not even at its nascent state and then there were arguments and fights between the guys of Guwahati and jorhat (reminds me of green street hooligan’s hahaha but that was about 2-3 years ago). All is well now.

We all expect the scene to grow for the betterment of every band, What do you feel about sense of achievement till now for the band, Do you believe this is the band’s kick start to making it big?
No not really! we have long way to go, we’re just a small town studio project that wanted to put jorhat on the metal map of India and I think we’ve done that

    as bblood spatters members

Your EP sounds awesome and I believe you guys are here to stay, can you guys tell me, Who all were responsible for the recording, mastering and the mixing of the EP?
Siddhant das of dream catcher studios is the man behind the mixing & mastering of the ep

I was checking out the album art, what does the album art signify and who is the creative mind behind it?
Seuj pallav helped us out with the artwork, I (saurav) loved comic books and Dc cartoons since I was a kid. The idea of vigilante justice is a tribute to Batman.

What will be your message for the fans out there?

We wouldn’t say fans but would like to thank our friends and well-wishers, without them this ep wouldn’t have been possible

bibhash buragohain helped us out with the production

  • Dhwesha, as a band, does not particular strike one as thematically innovative when you read about their lyrical content. Witchcraft, mythology, bloodshed,so what else is new in metal?

And then you listen to their debut album Sthoopa. And then you regret everything you thought about them and resolve never to pass unverified judgement again. This Bangalore-based band has created something unique in terms of not merely melodic or tonal ingenuity, but also perfected the art of storytelling through sound. band logo

The band prides itself on knowledge of the mystical occurings etched in various forms of liteature and cultural memories, both Indian and otherwise. With Sthoopa, Dhwesha crafts tales of their own. Songs like Kapala Haara Ugra Narasimha can easily be transplanted into video game soundtracks if Grant Morrison ever decided to create something along the lines of 18 Days, only way darker in topic and execution, and then turn it into a video game ( Okay, lots of ‘is’.) But the point is that Dhwesha uses sounds you have heard before ( if you are a classic heavy metal fan or if you listen to Archgoat ) in a completely inimitable way to give you a reason to headbang as well as ponder upon whatever it is they song about. 9 out of 10 times, you’ll want to google the lyrics and ask the band questions about why they wrote what they wrote.

In conclusion, here’s what to click of you want to listen to / buy Sthoopa, and we highly recommend that you do both.

For more on the band, just make your way over to their Facebook page

We also recommend Dhwesha if you are planning to offer prayers to Cthulhu of one of the Great Old Ones.
