The band has its unique style of blending both the vocal styles of Simone Simons (Lead Vocals) and Mark Jansen(Rhythm Guitar, Vocals) respectively. The other four members of the six-piece band, Coen Janssen (Synthesizer, Piano), Ariën van Weesenbeek (Drums, Backing Vocals), Isaac Delahaye(Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Rob van der Loo(Bass) Apart from its own music, the band has also composed background scores for a lot of Hollywood movies the most popular of them being, Pirates of The Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings.

Most of the bands’ famous albums which include Cry for the Moon(2003), Requiem for the Indifferent (2012) and The Quantum Enigma(2014) consist of songs which largely deal with philosophical topics, including science, religion, and world events. The band is also known for the visual and lively nature. To put it in better words , Epica’s performance is an experience.

On being questioned whether being a female artist was a challenge in the international music industry, the lead vocalist of the band, Simone Simons replied, “It used to be tough in the beginning but I don’t think it is any different these days. Once you find a great team of artists to perform with you, the success of your music has nothing to do with your being male or female.”

  • Beer Love : Exivious

    Oct 16 • News • 3023 Views

The world loves beer, so do we. we all know how beer saved the world , so why are we talking about it ? Because it is time for The Great Indian October Fest. This would be the 10th edition of Kingfisher Premium – The Great Indian Octoberfest. The 3 day music and beer fest has an impressive artist line-up this year with the likes of Exivious and The Ocean collective set to headline the festival

In the spirit of the festival we sat down with Exivious and discussed their favourite beers , following are their top five

    1. Duvel
Duvel is a natural beer with a subtle bitterness, a refined flavour and a distinctive hop character. The brewing process takes 90days, that according to Duvel is the longest brewing process as compared to any other beer. Apart from pure spring water, which is the main ingredient of beer, barley is the most important raw material.Duvel means the Devil and there was a time when a pack of six would cost € 6,66. Taking the number of the beast to new levels

    2. Chimay Blue
It is a dark Trappist beer with a powerful aroma. The taste is relatively dry with caramel note. The alcohol content is towards the higher side at 9%. If you are wondering what a Trappist beer is , here is the answer .Trappist means that it is brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery under the control of the community of monks.Interesting indeed

    3. Westmalle Tripel
Pours a dark-ish golden color with banana tinted edges. Cloudy, hazy, and basically opaque, as we would expect any tripel to be. this is again a Trappist beer with the alcohol content being 9.5%

    4. LaTrappe Isid’or
It has a beautiful amber colour but the foam does not persist. Caramel with some salt licorice, toffee, a bit of alcohol, very noticeable pepper as well. The alcohol content on this is 7.5%. As you might have noticed by now , this one is a trappist beer too

    5. LaTrappe Tripel
The aroma is slightly malty and estery. Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow to coppery with a big off-white head that collapses into a thin but fully persistent layer. This one has 8% alcohol by volume and is a trappist beer too.

All these beers are strong Belgian beers. For the band living close to the Netherland-Belgian border has the advantage of having plenty of these beers around

  • Define Destiny releases new track ‘Shandora’

    Oct 15 • News • 3283 Views

Now that you have absorbed the sonic assault Shandora had to offer lets take a look at the man behind the music , Karan Braria. Define Destiny is his brainchild and a full length album is already in the works with writing for the full length almost complete. Karan also plays for the band ‘Jehovah‘. We spoke to Karan about Define Destiny and the musical direction he plans to take this project into

Karan on his early days and his project
I was in a band called HIDE till 2011, when the band disbanded, I thought I needed to do something that challenges me and at the same time improves my skills. So I stopped playing live for 2 years and just focussed on writing music ,exploring styles and improving my skills, learnt new techniques and tried to incorporate them and when I felt I had enough material, I thought of making a project and that’s when define destiny came to be. When I was writing the songs I had a lot of anger inside me .I wanted to focus on the ambient side of things and play with sudden changes of emotions and at the same time keep the groovy element in the songs.

Karan on the musical direction of Define Destiny
As of now they’re instrumental, but some vocalists have approached me so let’s see if it fits, I wouldn’t want to just put vocals on them for the sake of it, it needs to add to the overall song. When I was writing this album or the songs I wanted to write songs that made me proud, so I’ve basically done everything myself on it, if a musician that I really admire gets in touch with me I would really like to collaborate but if that doesn’t happen it doesn’t matter because as of now the music is pretty much done

Karan on Define Destiny playing live
Since day one I’ve wanted this to be a live project, who wants to play in their house or inside 4 walls .I’ve currently got few musicians learning the songs, since it’s not that easy it’ll take them time to pull it off, also this being a project with lots of layers in the songs, it will be challenging to pull this off live, like I want to ,so I’m not rushing into anything right now.

Define Destiny is certainly shaping up to be one of the acts to look forward to . Till their full length album drops treat your ears with ‘Kaizen‘ and ‘Shandora
