METAL ASSAULT cancelled midway- report of ‘LOUD MUSIC’ by a neighborhood Lawyer
Reported by a neighborhood lawyer of loud music, METAL ASSAULT was stopped midway by police causing heavy monetary damage and harassment to the organizer in Bangalore. On 6th of March the event was scheduled to take place at a venue called PEBBLES, which was supposed to stage some of the best metal acts of the country. Sadly for all the 220 unfortunate fans the show had to be stopped midway through because of a complaint by a neighborhood lawyer. Kerala based band CHAOS did a great opening set followed by THE DOWN TRODDENCE who upped the scale of the show further, but before INNER SANCTUM could take the stage for their performance, a cop turned up at the venue demanding the show to be stopped. The neighborhood lawyer who apparently was dealing with the CHIEF JUSTICE as his guest, asked the police to stop the show immediately as he could not continue his business with the CHIEF JUSTICE because of the loud music. The lawyer allegedly threatened to take the matter to the higher authority in case of no action taken by the police.
Organizer Salman went to the police station along with the manager of Pebbles, Mr. Mathew. After meeting the lawyer at the police station he apologized to him and assured him of keeping the noise level in check, and requested him not to object any further so that the show can commence. Since the show had several fans from all over country and some reputed bands listed, he hoped for no further objection and the matter to be solved there. But to his great dismay the Inspector of High Grounds Police Station filed a case against him for creating a ‘public nuisance’ and warned him against continuing with the show.
The management of the venue didn’t allow him to continue citing the safety of their place. According to Salman the owner of Pebbles Mr. Harris was in Goa and didn’t respond to numerous calls from him, when he tried to reach him for some help while he and the manager were trying their best to resume the show.
Since the venue is surrounded by different marriage halls, loud music is a common thing and as Pebbles has a license to hold live music it is confusing for the organizer to understand why his show was singled out. With all that happening the venue authority told him that the noise level got out of control as he didn’t use their own PA, which according to Salman was not sufficient for a live rock or metal concert. Whereas previously other shows were conducted by different organizers using their own PA systems. He even informed the owner of the venue Mr. Harris that the show will go on throughout the day as checking the PA system and instruments are a common thing in music shows, which Mr. Harris didn’t object.
Due to heavy monetary losses Salman was unable to refund the ticket prices of the crowd but assures the fans of conducting a similar show which will compensate them by giving a free entry and hopes for no similar ill-fated occurrence happening again.
