The Minerva Conduct, albeit just over 7 months old, have taken the Indian Prog scene by storm. Initiated as a brainchild of guitarist Prateek Rajagopal, Ashwin Shriyan (Bass/Synth/Production) and Nishith Hegde (Guitars), both were later inducted into the band. This Mumbai based Instrumental Prog band recently parted ways with their drummer Ranbir ‘Kpr’ Kapoor and are still auditioning drummers. Although the band is new, Pratheek has been composing music for this project over 2.5-3 years with the aim of transcending the boundaries of Progressive Metal.

The band is poised to perform at the highly anticipated- 8th edition of ‘Control Alt Delete – Survive This‘ on the minerva conduct band membersJune 13. “Apart from a good set-list of 5-6 songs, the fans are also in for a nice surprise,” says founder, Pratheek. Having recently played at The Rolling Stones Metal Awards 2015 (the band’s debut gig in Mumbai), their new sounds were acknowledged with a fantastic reception from the crowd. As Pratheek put it – “It was a great start to an even greater journey.”

The much awaited debut album by this experimental band has reached the pre-production stage and the band is all set to spread their unique sound to the masses. Prateek, the composer, also states that The Minerva Conduct is still contemplating the vocalist/instrumental approach. For now, they’re taking it as it comes.
The band’s single “End Creation” also appears on the “Six New Releases You Should Checkout” list by Rolling Stones India. The song has Ashwin Shriyan doing some vocals on it.

India has recently seen an increase in the interest towards progressive metal and now boasts of a number of artists in that genre. Pratheek believes that the increase is because the wave/trend globally is progressive metal over thrash/death/heavy metal, currently. Every sub-genre has it’s phase, and this soon shall pass as well.

The Minverva conduct is a very exciting band and their upcoming album is certainly one to look out for. Watch the band perform some of their newer tracks on 13th June at Control Alt Delete 8.0
